Dr. Giacopuzzi is married to a wonderful dental hygienist, Norine, and has five children. His “non-dental” activities include skiing, swimming, hiking, fly fishing, and amateur radio. His main motivation in life is restoration...of just about anything–wooden boats, Porsches, antique radios, and yes, even teeth.

Dr. Guy Giacopuzzi, DDS, FAGD

Dr. Guy Giacopuzzi has been practicing in Lake Arrowhead since 1981. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University in 1980 and has a B.S degree in biology from Cal Poly State University.

The Dentist's Dentist
Known as the "dentist's dentist", Dr. Giacopuzzi is appreciated by his patients for his skill and knowledge. The field of dental implantology is a wide one, and to maintain skills, it is necessary to have continual input of the latest technology and developments. Dr. Giacopuzzi spends part of his time as a Clincal Instructor/Assistant Professor at Loma Linda University School of Dentistry, where he occasionally gives courses in implant dentistry.

In addition to belonging the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, Tri-County Dental Society, the Newport Harbor Dental Academy and the Academy of General Dentistry, he also belongs to the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the Academy of Osseointegration. He is the inventor of Fancy Floss, an innovative flossing device and a frequent contributor to several professional periodicals.

Why European-Style Dentistry?
In Europe, over 90% of the implants placed and restored, are performed by general dentists. When a single doctor oversees the implant therapy from beginning to end, there is much synergism in the treatment, not to mention significant financial savings. The patient enjoys the ease of going to a single office, and not having to deal with multiple practitioners.

Dr. Giacopuzzi follows this European-Style philosophy in every aspect of his practice. For patient comfort, Dr. Giacopuzzi is also trained in intravenous sedation, and has held a licence to administer these medications for almost twenty years and is a state sanctioned examiner for other licencee’s. There are only about 100 general practitioners in the state with these licences.

Since his graduation, Dr. Giacopuzzi has had an interest in dental implants. Dental implant placement and restoration is not a specialty. While most implants placed in the United States are performed by specialists–oral surgeons and periodontists–these practitioners are not specialists in implants. In the early 1980's he was trained in the use of custom “blade” fixtures. In the mid 1980's the first endosteal fixtures came on the market, but it wasn’t until the early 1990's that individual tooth replacement implants became available. In 1996, Dr. Giacopuzzi started receiving training on these newer implants and has been placing them ever since.
